Aureobasidium pullulans

Aureobasidium pullulans Overview

Aureobasidium pullulans

Aureobasidium pullulans is one of the more rare types of mold seen in Utah homes. When growing in massive numbers the colonies appear to be a slimy pail pink color and eventually turn to a black color. Pneumonia, coughs, and fevers are among some of the common symptoms when prolonged exposure to this mold type occurs. Higher risk homes include those with old humidifiers and air conditioners. Spores are light enough to travel through the air. They can easily enter into the lungs and respiratory system during normal breathing.  If you have any of these symptoms for a prolonged period of time, you may want to have an air quality test preformed at your home by Pure Maintenance.
